We'll be having our wedding reception at Långedrag Värdshus, which has a fantastic view of the archipelago of Gothenburg.

Details will come later in 2021.

Långedrag Värdshus
Talattagatan 24

We're excited to have our first meal as husband and wife with our friends and family.

Please let us know if you plan on joining us with the RSVP by May 31, 2020.

We will start a new RSVP in 2021 when we have more details.

Out of Towners

We understand that the cost of travel and time off may not be possible, especially for those living outside of Sweden. Please join us if you are able, but we completely understand if you cannot. We hope to eventually visit Canada and Asia to see our family and friends around the globe.

For the out of towners who are able to join us, we are really looking forward to seeing you! We have created a Guide to Sweden that we hope will be useful in helping you plan and get excited for your trip.

Our Story

Joanne and Carl met in October 2012 on a weekend group camping trip in Algonquin Park. Carl was an exchange student at the University of Waterloo and Joanne was studying full-time there. Both wanted to explore more of Canada. After the trip, many of the campers wanted to hang out with each other more. Joanne and Carl were two of these happy campers.

When Carl moved back to Sweden after his exchange, Joanne and Carl were in a long-distance relationship for over 3 years but tried to visit each other whenever and wherever possible. They closed the distance in December 2016 and the rest is history!

When should I RSVP by?

Don't worry about RSVP for now! We will look into the details and have it open again in 2021 when it is more relevant.

What is the dress code?

We hope our wedding will be a fun excuse to wear your favourite cocktail attire. The reception will be held indoors but there's opportunities to enjoy the fresh air outdoors as well.

I would like to hold a speech. Who should I contact?

Please contact one of the toastmasters, and we'll make sure to schedule you into the program.

They can be reached at:

How do I get to Långedrag Värdshus?

If you take a tram, you can take number 11 towards Saltholmen and jump off at the stop Långedrag. There is also a parking lot right by the restaurant if you drive. The address is Talattagatan 24, 426 76 Västra Frölunda.

I'm from out of town, where should I stay?

There are lots of great accomodation in Gothenburg. Carl and I have a list of places in our Guide to Gothenburg. Our suggestion is to stay on the south side of the Göta Älv river for easier access.

Do you want any presents?

We have been happily living together for several years now, and therefore have accumulated all the things we might need, so we ask for your presence not presents.

If you would still like to celebrate us with a gift, consider following the Chinese gifting tradition of “li xi”, or lucky money, which is provided to the bride and groom to bless their wedding day and married life.

What language will the reception be in?

Swenglish! English will be the main language but there will also be parts in Swedish.

What are you doing for the ceremony?

Joanne and Carl are choosing to tie the knot with a short civil ceremony at the Gothenburg town hall with immediate family.

What if I have questions that haven’t been addressed?

Contact Joanne or Carl and we will try to answer it.

Joanne and Carl have been making memories for over 7 years. Here are some highlights from their time together.

What's Next

We are really looking forward to tying the knot! Details will come in 2021 when we have more information.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, feel free to contact Joanne or Carl personally.
